Did you know that you’re helping train the next generation of wildlife heroes?
Veterinary students learning all about elephant foot care.
With your help, the Wildlife Ambulance trains veterinary students in elephant healthcare. They teach students how to give urgent medical treatment to elephants injured in the wild. They also teach them how to provide long-term care for rescued elephants whose injuries are so severe, they sadly cannot return to their forest homes.
And thanks to you, the Wildlife Ambulance has been buzzing with activity over the past few months! The team has hosted a series of training workshops, sharing life-saving skills with young people who will protect and care for all elephants, for years to come.
Here’s a quick glimpse into how your support is helping to train vets, and create a safer future for Sumatran elephants.
🐘 Future Elephant VetR
22 final-year veterinary students joined a two-day, hands-on elephant care workshop. They learned how to safely work with elephants, perform health checks, and care for elephant feet. Essential skills they will carry into their careers!
🐘 A Special Elephant Lecture
Dr. Arman Sayuti shared his expertise with 123 students and vets in the region, teaching them about medical care for Sumatran elephants.
🐘 Global Elephant Seminar
Your support crossed so many borders, bringing together 231 participants from 13 countries to learn about diseases affecting wild elephants. Truly wonderful to reach so many people!
🐘 Inspiring Young Minds
In Way Kambas, 40 curious 5th graders took part in a fun Q&A, learning all about elephants, their behaviour, and why it’s important to protect their forest homes.
From medical checks to expert caregiving–vetinerary students now have hands-on experience in elephant healthcare. And it’s all thanks to you!
🐘 Wildlife Vet Training Course
An incredible 48 students applied, and 20 lucky final-year vet students took part in a two-week training course with the Wildlife Ambulance team. They gained practical skills in emergency care for wild elephants in need of rescue, rehabilitation and release back into the wild.
You are at the heart of all of this. You’re not only helping elephants today–you’re training the wildlife heroes ready to protect them tomorrow.
Thank you for being a hero for Sumatran elephants!
