Because of your support, we are not only caring for elephants (and other amazing animals too), we are also training the next generation of wildlife vets. That means your impact reaches far beyond today. 

Training Future Wildlife Vets

With your help, our veterinary team delivered 19 lectures on elephant healthcare over the past few months. They also ran two special training workshops for 27 university students and paramedic and veterinary nurse trainees.

On day one, students learned in the classroom. On day two, they learned hands-on with elephants. 

The workshops covered: 

• How to stay safe while working with elephants
• How to perform health checks
• How to give medicine and collect blood samples
• How to care for elephant feet

In addition to the hands-on training, 180 veterinary students attended wildlife health lectures. They learned about everything from bacterial and viral diseases in elephants, to how to care for orphaned elephant calves.

Because of you, these students are gaining the skills they need to protect and care for wild elephants, for years to come.

A Second Chance for a Sea Turtle

Your support also helped save a green sea turtle that was rescued after it was likely struck by a boat propeller. The turtle had severe head injuries, was dehydrated, and had badly swollen eyes. 

Our Wildlife Ambulance team provided months of expert care, nursing the sea turtle back to health. The team worked closely with medical experts at the Sea Turtle Rescue Alliance to make sure the turtle received the very best possible treatment.

Two final-year veterinary students helped care for the turtle each day. As it healed, they gained real-life experience that will help shape their careers.

And here is the wonderful news: after months of care, the sea turtle made a full recovery. In early December 2025, it was safely released back into the ocean, where it belongs. 

Because of you, this precious turtle is swimming free again!
